Lindsey + Jared’s Holgas

Since I wrote about Lindsey and Jared below, I thought I would jump ahead and blog about their amazing beach wedding, starting with some Holga images from their wedding day.  I hope you enjoy!

Adventures with SX-70 Polaroids

So, I have a collapsable SX-70 poloaroid camera I bought at a flea market a very long time ago. I love it. I use to be able to buy the specific film the camera requires anywhere, even Kmart. Then Polaroid announced they weren’t going to be making film anymore, and I put the camera away in the closet. In steps my lovely bride Lindsey. One of the most creative and stylish people I have ever met. She sent me examples of photos before her wedding where polaroids were used as props in them. They were really wonderful and we decided it would be fun to incorporate SX-70s into the story of her wedding day. We were able to find the film on Ebay and we were in business.

After the wedding, I sent the polaroids to her to use as she liked. She just sent me the link to her own design blog, Lu Lu Belle, where she shows what she did with one of the images. I love it! I think it’s really creative and will look beautiful on her wall. A real conversation piece.

If there are any other clients of mine who have made large prints, canvases, printed a gallery wall of images, etc.. with the images I took on your special day, I would love to see what you have created! Send me a quick note, and I’ll come over and take some photos or send me any pictures you may have taken.

Here’s to creating more art for our walls in 2010!

Bryson!

I’d like to introduce you to a wonderful family I have had the privilege of getting to know well over the last couple of years. Jenny was pregnant with Adeline (Addie) and was looking for maternity photos. I was so excited to come over and photograph her baby belly and to meet her husband Lawrence and daughter Lily. After maternity photos, I came back to photograph Addie as a newborn, then a year later as a one year old. You can view an old blogpost here. This past December I was invited to come back and photograph the newest addition to the family. Bryson was just 6 days old when I came over to meet him and take an updated family photograph. Wow, 6 days old! He was still wrinkly and blurry eyed, and so beautiful. I could not believe how big Lily and Addie have gotten! Kids grow up so fast, and I love how Jenny knows how important it is to capture these fleeting moments with photography. I would do well to remember that myself with my own kiddos. But I digress, here are the beautiful H. Family! P.S. Look how beautiful mom looks!

I’m back!

Wow, it’s been so long since I blogged last! 2009 was a fun and exciting year and I want to catch you all up on the amazing weddings and fun portraits I was so fortunate to be able to shoot. 2009 also was the year of the two year old in my house, so blogging, unfortunately got pushed to the wayside as hikes in the woods, snuggle time and reading funny books, and hundreds of trips up and down playground slides ruled my days. I’m not going to blog all the events all at once, but I thought I’d start with my latest sessions and work my way backwards.

I have found lots of new vendors that I can’t wait to share with those of you planning your weddings. The Pacific NW is full of creative, talented, and amazing professionals and I want to spread the news about the ones I loved working with. I also want this blog to be a place where you can share your ideas, tips, and latest findings, so comment on a post or contact me to be a guest blogger! I plan on having a few of my clients from last year add a post about their own weddings, what they found worked, what didn’t, and all the adventures they had along the way.

So, first up, my last portrait session, 19 day old Nolan!

Nolan is the adorable son on Jason and Kelly. I photographed their beautiful wedding a couple of years ago at Edgefield, and now they have welcomed a lovely little guy into the world. I went over to their place the day after Christmas for some relaxed portraits of the new family and to meet the newest addition. It was great catching up with my couple and I wish them the best on all the new adventures coming their way!
